Reminds Us Of

Derek Wolfe Denver Broncos

Began the recruiting process as an offensive lineman but development during his junior season had him and schools focusing on defense, and he will enter college as a defensive lineman. He has verified size and plus length, and brings versatility to the defensive line. Has two-way snaps and was recruited heavily as an offensive lineman until January 2023. Multi-sport background included lacrosse and basketball before his focus moved to football early in his high school career. He lines up mostly from a 4i- to 5-technique at Dexter and he will bring versatility to a college defensive line. He can slide along the defensive line from a 3-technique to a wide-9 technique. Plays with a high motor and energy and he is physical. Plays violently and competes hard to win one-on-one battles. Will work through double teams and can be ferocious in working pass the blocker. Gets off the ball quickly and is explosive. Bends well and is able to win leverage battles despite being bigger than many of the players he faces. Is advanced for a high school prospect with his hands. Can keep offensive lineman off him, and uses several moves to get into the backfield. Has very good body control and changes direction well for a player of his size. Is able to use speed to chase a play down from the back side. Has strength throughout his frame is powerful in the lower body. Has flexibility to dip shoulder and explode toward quarterback when getting around the edge. Possesses stack-and-shed ability and locates the ball carrier quickly. Work ethic is strong. Has plenty of upside because of his inexperience on the defensive line. Learns quickly and already knows how to use combination moves. Refining his technique and getting experience on the defensive side will be key in his development. Can play early at a high-level program. Has early round NFL draft potential.
