Quick-twitched athlete who is explosive off the edge and consistently makes plays behind the line of scrimmage. Has verified plus length and the frame to play anywhere from 240 to 270 pounds depending on college usage. Offers position versatility as an edge or on the defensive line. Has frame to add weight and move inside or can stay. During in-person evaluations, gets off quickly at the snap and covers ground fast with first few steps. Is strong in the lower body. Possesses closing speed when zeroing in on the ball carrier. Plays in four-point and three-point stance, and standing up. Shoots gaps with extraordinary burst and is violent when meeting the ball carrier. Can redirect along the line of scrimmage and has very good lateral quickness. Chases plays down on the back side. Extremely disruptive and must be accounted for on each snap because of ability to pursuing along the line of scrimmage when unblocked. Uses hands well and his initial punch is solid. Can anchor and plays low against the run. Incorporates a nice swim move. Understands leverage to keep ball carrier inside. Has athleticism to drop into coverage and handle the flat. Works hard from play to play and fights through double teams and chips. Does not have ideal size to play exclusively as a defensive end. Working on technique and developing move sets is important. Continued upper body strength development is important to stack-and-shed against college-level offensive linemen. Should play early at a high-level college program.
