Reminds Us Of

Melvin Ingram Kansas City Chiefs

Quick-twitched edge player that has a chance to emerge as a real pest for opposing offenses after making the transition from running back midway through prep career. Might have measured 6-foot-2 on the dot at check-in for the All-American Bowl, but carries good bulk through the torso and is blessed with near 35-inch arms. Displays plenty of pass rush ability with his initial get-off and lateral quickness. Frequently collapsed pockets as a senior, using both speed and power to beat larger offensive tackles. Makes plenty of stops in pursuit and can retrace at a high level as he uses impressive core balance to shift his weight and change directions. Naturally low center of gravity also makes it easy for him to find leverage. Must keep evolving and adding moves to his tool box, but should be viewed as one of the top edge rushers in the 2024 cycle based on what he put on tape as a senior. Could work out of a variety of different alignments on Saturdays, and possibly even grow into a 5 or 3-technique depending on how the body fills out in the coming years, but ceiling appears to be highest as a two-point rusher in an odd front. Younger for grade and could actually be a class of 2025 recruit. Has a chance to develop into an early-round NFL Draft pick if he can avoid setbacks.
