Ryan Jones

Jones is a frontcourt mismatch problem because of his combination of power and skill. He has massive shoulders, corresponding length, and a broad upper body that allows him to create space in the paint. He’s very physical looking to establish deep post position, knows how to duck-in, has good hands, and footwork. He has good dexterity and use of both hands inside the lane, but lacks much vertical explosiveness in traffic and could even better utilize his physicality to go through contact as a finisher. Jones can also operate in the mid-post, facing up with polished footwork and being an isolation threat in that area. He has a very soft touch that extends with ease out to the three-point line, allowing him to pull opposing bigs away from the basket and stretch the floor. He’s worked hard to sculpt his frame, but has somewhat limited mobility. He may be best suited defending fives and isn’t going to provide a ton of positional versatility or switch-ability on that end of the floor. Finally, he’s shown he can be a good rebounder in traffic.
