Jamarion Batemon

Jamarion Batemon is a long, cut-up, and aggressive two-way guard. He’s a high-volume scorer who plays with a ton of confidence and also a prolific shot-maker, despite a very unorthodox release. He knocked down over 41% of his attempts from behind the arc during the 3SSB regular season, while attempting almost 9 per game. He’s not just a threat on the move and off the dribble, but also capable of getting hot and making his high-arcing shots in bunches, despite a pretty drastic left shoulder dip, twisting motion into his release, and occasional leg kick.

While he plays with a distinct scoring mentality, he’s capable of playing both on and off the ball. He’s not flashy with his handle, but can make sharp changes in direction, get to his pull-up, mix in some runners inside the paint, and play some pick-and-roll. He’ll hunt shots at times, but generally plays a low turnover style (13 total turnovers in 12 3SSB games). His athleticism can also come out when he has the ball in his hands in the open floor, both getting downhill and getting up to finish above the rim.

Batemon also has a wealth of intangibles. He plays hard, is competitive, and physically tough. He’s an asset on the defensive end of the floor, where his length is a weapon, he fights to get around screens, and can be a playmaking threat with his high steal rate.
