A former three-star recruit, Hytchye earned a spot as a reserve cornerback as a true freshman, appearing in eight games with nine tackles. He made one start vs. Georgia in which he totaled a career-high seven tackles. Hytche's musical career received a boost when his rap about the rebuilding UK football program was featured at Commonwealth Stadium after the 2014 spring game.
