Overview: A well-rounded point guard that can run the floor as well as score… His 1,901 points at Petersburg High School ranks second only to former NBA great and PHS alum, Moses Malone… Went on to play a prep season at Massanutten Military Academy following his high school career.

Sophomore Season (2014-15): Started all 36 games at point guard... Named to the All-Big 12 Second Team... Became the fourth Jayhawk in the Bill Self era to score in double figures for 21-consecutive games (Nov. 27, 2014 to Feb. 10, 2015)... In all, scored 10+ points 30 times in 2014-15, the most of any Jayhawk... Ranked in the top-10 in the Big 12 in assists (3.9, 5th), field goal percentage (44.1, 8th) and scoring (12.6, 9th)... Led KU on the year with 50 steals... Totaled 11 points, recorded seven assists and two steals in a win over Tennessee (11/28)… Followed suit with his first career double-double (10 points/10 rebounds) in the Orlando Classic championship game against No. 19 Michigan State (11/30)… Recorded 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and posted a career-best nine assists in a win over Lafayette (12/20)… Played all 40 minutes, racked up 20 points and connected on a career-best four shots from behind the arc in a loss at Temple (12/22)… Stuffed the stat sheet against UNLV (1/4) by tallying 18 points, seven assists, and four steals… Just missed a double-double by scoring 16 points and grabbing nine rebounds in a win over No. 24 Oklahoma State (1/13)… Set a new career-high in points with 21 in a loss to No. 11 Iowa State (1/17)… Powered Kansas to a comeback victory against No. 20 West Virginia (3/3) with all 19 of his points coming after halftime, including 11-of-12 free throws… Tied his career-high 21 points, including a perfect 9-for-9 effort from the free throw line, despite the loss at No. 15 Oklahoma (3/7)… Led the Jayhawks with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while grabbing nine rebounds and two steals, in a win over New Mexico State (3/20) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament...Scored 16 points in the last game of the season, a loss to Wichita State (3/22) in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

Freshman Season (2013-14): Appeared in all 35 games in 2013-14 and started three... Led KU in assists nine times and in steals four times… Recorded four assists and tied a career-high with four rebounds vs. Eastern Kentucky (3/21) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament... Scored 10 points in the second half at West Virginia (3/8)... Made a career-high six shots (6-of-7) for 14 points vs. Texas (2/22)... Dished out a career-best seven assists vs. Toledo (12/30)... Started in back-to-back tough road games at Colorado and at No.19 Florida, scoring 11 and nine points, respectively... Played tough down the stretch against Villanova (11/29) scoring 12 points off the bench… Scored a career-high 15 points, including 11-of-12 free throws, vs. Duke (11/12)… Started KU’s first game of the season against Louisiana at Monroe (11/8).

Massanutten Military Academy [Va.]: Four-star player ranked No. 76 by Rivals.com and is the No. 17 point guard in the 2013 class… Attended the Massanutten Military Academy following his senior year and helped the Colonels finish 30-4 and advance to the National Prep Championship Elite Eight, where they lost in overtime to eighth-ranked Notre Dame Prep… Prior to MMA, Mason was a four-year standout at Petersburg High School (Va.)… Named the 2012 Metro Player of the Year and All-State First Team at the conclusion of his senior year… Led the state in scoring in 2011 at 27.4 points per game and again in 2012 at 27.1 points per contest… Scored 1,901 points during his four-year Petersburg career, second only to NBA Hall of Famer Moses Malone in PHS history… Scored 50 points on 16-of-21 shooting during the 804 All-Star Game at Benedictine College Preparatory in June 2012… Mason’s 50 points, which included six three-pointers, set a new 804 All-Star game record and earned co-MVP honors… Led the Crimson Wave to a combined 78-4 record from 2009-12… Guided the Wave to two state championship appearances.
