A three-star recruit from Mt. Washington, Ky., Willis signed with Kentucky after initially committing to Purdue. After starring in the preseason Blue-White Scrimmage, Willis appeared in 14 games as a freshman. With Willie Cauley-Stein and Trey Lyles out due to injury, Willis thrived in Kentucky's 2014 six-game summer exhibition series in the Bahamas, but he found himself out of the 10-man rotation when Cauley-Stein and Lyles returned to the court to start the season. Willis appeared in 19 games as a sophomore, totaling 25 points in 75 minutes on the court.
