First Round

Reminds Us Of

Kendall Wright Minnesota Vikings

Dynamic multi-sport athlete who dominates small-school TXHSFB competition. Exceptionally productive with three-phase playmaking ability on the gridiron, state-level track speed, and high-flying open-floor finishing ability on the hardwood. Well-assembled, looks and plays larger than listed size. Build is similar to that of a running back, modern safety, or nickel defender. Not overly long but possesses plus length. Virtually unstoppable small-school high school football player who faced rural competition but consistently asserted his will. Able to run down or outrun almost any opponent at Texas 2A level. Enormous production as a dual-threat QB with 2,000-plus passing, 2,500-plus rushing, and 70-plus total TDs as a junior. Nearly 300 tackles and 24 INTs on defense from freshman through junior campaigns, plus a handful of special teams TDs. Missed first several games of senior year with a knee injury, but returned to lead Timpson High to its first state championship, capping a genuinely legendary four-year TXHSFB career. Finished four-year varsity tenure with nearly 6,000 passing yards, 5,300-plus rushing yards, and nearly 180 total TDs (76 passing, 93 rushing, plus defensive and teams). Plays with elite initial explosiveness. Couples startling acceleration with excellent top-end speed proven in a combine setting (sub-4.5 verified) and on the track. Quick-twitch athleticism translates to jumps events and basketball. Four-sport athlete who's also played baseball. Elite camp circuit and Under Armour All-America Game provided exposure to other high-caliber opponents, but still faces considerable leap in competition level from in-game perspective. Will encounter technical learning curve moving to receiver or secondary in full-time capacity. Athletic and on-field profiles may more ideally lend to defensive projection, but relative lack of height and frame potential may force to receiver in the long run. Must consider, frankly, just how dynamic he is with the ball in his hands. Regardless, should not be overthought as a prospect. A true athlete with an phenomenal profile that suggests immense long-term potential at multiple positions. Could immediately provide a deadly special teams option. One of TXHSFB's best players and highest-ceiling prospects. Possible impact college player who could become an early-round NFL Draft candidate.
