ON SHANNON: Considered by Florida State's coaching staff to be the toughest player on the team who has begun to grow as a basketball player and whose best basketball is in his immediate future...was showing his extreme promise in the first seven games of the 2011-12 season when he was injured and forced to miss the remainder of the season because of a dislocated left shoulder suffered against UConn in the third round of the Battle4Atlants on Nov. 26...underwent surgery on January 4, 2012 and was granted a medical redshirt by the NCAA and the ACC in June of 2012...he has three years of eligibility remaining at the start of the 2012-13 with an incredible amount of potential waiting to be tapped during the remainder of his Seminole career...has switched his jersey number from 15 AS A JUNIOR (2012): Averaged 8.3 points (fourth), 4.4 rebounds (tied for second) and shot .543 from the field (second) despite playing in only seven games because of an injury suffered in the seventh game of the season...was granted a medical redshirt after playing in only the first seven games of the season...played in the first seven games of the season and was injured in the second half of the Seminoles' game against No. 4 UConn in the final game of the Battle4Atlantis on Paradise Island in the Bahamas (Nov. 26)...suffered a dislocated left shoulder at the 7:17 mark of the second half when UConn's Tyler Olander jumped on top of him as the two players dove back across the mid court line for a loose ball...Olander landed awkwardly on top of Shannon, and despite Shannon being called for the foul, he was the injured player who left the game and saw his season come to an end...had surgery on Jan. 4, 2012 to repair the injury and began rehabilitation during the spring semester...totaled the first double-double of his career with a career-high 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in the Seminoles' season opening win against Jacksonville (Nov. 11)...in addition to establishing career highs for points (15) and rebounds (12) against Jacksonville, he made a career high seven free throws (in nine attempts), and pulled down a career high five offensive rebounds and a career high seven defensive rebounds (for his career high total of 12 rebounds...totaled nine points and seven rebounds in the second half as Florida State gained its first win of the season...tied his career high with 15 points in Florida State's 80-39 win over South Alabama...totaled 10 points and six rebounds in the Seminoles' win over UCF in Tallahassee (Nov. 14)...scored in double figures in three of the first four games of the season (15 against Jacksonville, 10 against UCF and 15 against South Alabama) for an early scoring average of 11.0 points per game in leading the Seminoles to four wins in their first four games of the season...was enjoying a certain breakout season after the first four games of the season as he was leading the Seminoles in free throws made (14) and attempted (24), was second in total rebounds (27), second in average rebounds per game (6.8), second in offensive rebounds (10) and third in blocked shots (three)...was one of four Seminoles averaging in double figure scoring entering the Battle4Atlantis...added eight points against UMass in the first game of the Battle4Atlantis for a 5-0 record for the Seminoles and a 9.6 points per game scoring average...scored four points and added a season high two steals in the Seminoles 46-41 loss to Harvard in the second round of the Battle4Atlantis (Nov. 25)...blocked a career high tying two shots in Florida State's victory over South Alabama (No. 20) to go along with 15 points and five rebounds...was Florida State's second leading scorer with a 9.3 points per game scoring average and the team leader with a .613 field goal shooting percentage entering the Seminoles' game against UConn when he was injured and forced to the sidelines for the remainder of the season...

AS A SOPHOMORE (2011): Averaged 4.7 points (tied for eighth on the team) and 2.7 rebounds (tied for seventh) while playing in a career-high 27 games in 2010-11...he started a career high five games (Duke, NC State, at Miami, Boston College and at Clemson) before a knee injury kept him out of the line-up for five games...Shannon underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Feb. 4 following the Seminoles' game at Clemson and missed only five games before returning to the line-up on Feb. 19 at Wake Forest...his play helped Florida State play in its school record tying third consecutive NCAA Tournament and reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 1993 season...Florida State won 23 games, had an 11-5 record in ACC play, finished in third place in the ACC standings and solidified their place as the third winningest program in the ACC in the last six seasons behind only Duke and North Carolina...played in four wins over nationally ranked teams - nearly four times as many rebounds as a sophomore as compared to his freshman season...averaged 2.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in eight games against ranked teams during his sophomore season...averaged 2.4 points and 1.7 rebounds in 11 games against teams that played in the NCAA Tournament and averaged 4.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in seven games against teams that played in the NIT in 2011...(vs. Boston College): Scored zero points and pulled down three rebounds in the Seminoles' only game of the season against NIT participant Boston College...a defensive presence as Florida State blocked seven shots (he had one blocked shot) and limited the Eagles to .354 shooting from the field and 51 points...Florida State won the game, 67-51, in Tallahassee (Jan. 22)...two first half rebounds in eight minutes as a starter as Florida State took a 29-27 halftime lead...one rebound in three minutes of playing time as Florida State stretched out their advantage and took the 16 points win to raise its ACC record to 5-1...(vs. Clemson): Averaged 2.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in two games against NCAA Tournament participant Clemson...averaged 13.0 minutes in the two games against the Tigers as both teams won on their home court...scored two points in six minutes of play as Florida State rallied to defeat Clemson, 75-69, in Tallahassee (Dec. 12)...the win came as a December victory for the Seminoles and allowed them to rank as the first place team in the league standings for nearly one full month...two important first half points on a jumper with 1:04 remaining before intermission to pull the Seminoles to within six at 28-34...the Seminoles trailed by as many as eight in the first half...Florida State scored 10 of the first 12 points of the second half to take the lead and re-took the lead for good on a 3-point shot by Deividas Dulkys at the 3:36 mark...totaled two points and pulled down five rebounds as Florida State traveled to play at Clemson...the Tigers returned the favor of defeating the Seminoles, 62-44, in Clemson (Jan. 29)...two second half points as Florida State worked to dig out of as much as a 27 point deficit...the Seminoles never led in dropping their second ACC game of the year...(vs. Duke): scored six points and pulled down four rebounds in Florida State's only game against NCAA Tournament participant Duke during the 2010-11 season...in Shannon's first career start the Seminoles defeated the No. 1 ranked Blue Devils, 66-61, in Tallahassee (Jan. 12)...Shannon found out he would start the game five minutes before the game began when Associate Head Coach Stan Jones wrote his name into the starting line-up during the Seminoles' final pre-game team meeting...tied for the team lead with three offensive rebounds and one blocked shot as Florida State limited Duke to 61 points and .311 shooting from the field...two first half points gave Florida State a 9-6 lead at the 15:26 mark of the first half on a jumper from the right elbow...totaled four points, two offensive rebounds and one blocked shot in the second half of the win...his four second half points came nearly in succession as a jumper at the 17:07 mark gave Florida State a 36-29 advantage and a lay-up at the 14:49 mark gave the Seminoles a 40-29 lead at the 14:49 mark...his four points came in the midst of a 6-0 run that allowed Florida State to keep a lead that it held for the final 22 minutes of the game including the entire second half...(vs. Georgia Tech): Did not play in Florida State's only game of the season against Georgia Tech following surgery on his left knee on Feb. 4...The Seminoles defeated the Yellow Jackets, 72-63, in Atlanta (Feb. 10)...(vs. Maryland): Scored 12 points and pulled down four rebounds to go along with two steals in the Seminoles' only game of the season against Maryland...was Florida State's third leading scorer as he tied his ACC career high with 12 points on a career high six made field goals...he shot .600 percent from the field (six of 10) as he played 20 minutes in the game...Florida State lost an early lead in falling to the Terps, 78-62, in College Park, Md. (Feb. 23)...totaled six first half points in the first half as Florida State jumped out to as much as a seven point lead in the first half only to trail 38-37 at the intermission...a lay-up at the 13:31 mark of the first half gave the Seminoles a 16-11 advantage...then scored four points in a 43 second span on two lay-ups to pull Florida State to within five at 31-36...six second half points as Maryland upped its lead to as many as 17 in winning the game...(vs. Miami): Averaged 5.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in two games against NIT participant Miami...Florida State swept the two game regular season series against the Hurricanes - winning in both Coral Gables and Tallahassee...scored 10 points and pulled down two rebounds in Florida State's come from behind win over Miami, 55-53, in Coral Gables (Jan. 19)...shot well from the field with three field goals and was four of six (.667 percent) from the free throw line as Florida State won an ACC road game despite not scoring a field goal in the first 10 minutes of the game...scored the Seminoles' first field goal of the game at the 10:11 mark with nearly 10 minutes elapsed on a dunk to pull the Seminoles to within two of 9-11...he was four of six from the free throw line in the first half including one at the 12:51 mark to bring Florida State to within seven at 3-10 and two more at the 11:44 mark to bring Florida State to within three at 7-10...scored five points in the span of 2:40 to bring the Seminoles from a 10-2 deficit to a workable 11-9 deficit as he jumpstarted the Seminoles' offense...three more points in a nine second span helped Florida State stay in touch with the Hurricanes during their offensive woes in the first half...one free throw at the 3:55 mark brought the Seminoles to within 11 at 15-26 and a lay-up at the 3:46 mark closed the Seminoles' gap to nine at 17-26...began the Seminoles on the road to prosperity with a dunk to begin Florida State's second half scoring...his dunk and two points began a 31-22 game ending second half run that saw Florida State rally from as much as a 12 point deficit to the ultra-important win over its in-state ACC rival on the road in conference play...helped Florida State to the win as a starter in his third consecutive game and first career start in the ACC on the road...scored one point, pulled down two rebounds and was credited with one steal in 10 minutes of play as Florida State defeated Miami, 65-59, in Tallahassee (Feb. 26)...was only his third game back from knee surgery in leading the Seminoles to their 20th overall win of the season and their 10th ACC win of the year to virtually ensure themselves of a school record tying third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance...his lone point came on a free throw with 58 seconds remaining in the second half to give Florida State a commanding 22-point lead at 36-14 on its way to a 36-16 lead at halftime...(vs. North Carolina): Scored five points and pulled down three rebounds in one game against NCAA Tournament participant North Carolina...played in the Seminoles game against the Tar Heels in Tallahassee after missing the game between the two teams on Super Bowl Sunday in Chapel Hill...totaled five points and three rebounds as the Seminoles fell to North Carolina, 72-70, in Tallahassee (March 6)...the Tar Heels won the game on a buzzer beating 3-point shot from the top of the key by All-American Harrison Barnes to stun the Seminoles who lead throughout the second half and who took their final lead of the game with 18 seconds remaining to be played on two free throws by Derwin Kitchen...Shannon scored all five of his points in the first half to help the Seminoles to a 38-37 halftime lead...a lay-up broke a tie at the 14:24 mark and put Florida State up 10-8 and a free throw at the 13:28 mark broke another tie and put the Seminoles up 13-12...broke a third tie with a lay-up at the 5:13 mark to put Florida State up 28-26...his lay-up at the 5:13 mark began a 12-11 halftime run for Florida State that gave them a 38-27 lead at the intermission...(vs. NC State): Averaged 9.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals in two games against NC State...played in both games of the regular season against the Wolfpack (one pre and one post his knee surgery) and was a starter in the Seminoles' win over the Wolfpack in Tallahassee...was a perfect six of six from the free throw line in the two game sweep of NC State...a near double double of 12 points and nine rebounds to go along with two steals in a career high 29 minutes as a starter in Florida State's victory over NC State, 84-71, in Tallahassee (Jan. 15)...was the second start of his career as he helped lead Florida State to the very important win over the Wolfpack...the win was important as the Seminoles' third win of the season but it was just as important as it was the Seminoles' first game after their win over No. 1 ranked Duke just three nights earlier...led Florida State with eight first half points in leading the Seminoles to a 28-19 halftime advantage...scored his eight first half points on three field goals and two free throws in leading Florida State offensively - the Seminoles did not trail during the game...began the Seminoles' scoring in the second half with a half opening jumper to put Florida State up 30-19...the Seminoles led by double figures for the remainder of the game in taking the win...totaled six points and two rebounds in 15 minutes of play as Florida State won in Raleigh, 72-62, to close out the regular season (March 6)...the victory sent the Seminoles into the postseason with a 21-9 overall record, an 11-5 record in the ACC and a third place finish in the league standings...it marked the school record third consecutive season the Seminoles had finished in fourth place or higher in the league standings...scored four of his six points off the bench in the first half to help stake the Seminoles to a 34-25 halftime advantage...scored his four first half points in a span of 1:20 on two free throws at the 15:40 mark to put Florida State up 9-3 and on a lay-up at the 14:20 mark to increase the Seminoles' lead to 13-5...two second half points on a lay-up at the 15:13 mark gave Florida State a 43-34 lead...his second half basket proved important as the Wolfpack fought their way back into the game and took a one point lead on two occasions with under nine minutes remaining in the game...the Seminoles pushed their lead back out to as much as 10 in winning the game...(vs. Virginia): Did not play in the Seminoles' only game of the season against Virginia (Feb. 12) after undergoing successful knee surgery just eight days earlier...(vs. Virginia Tech): Averaged 5.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in two games against NIT participant Virginia Tech...also added a team high tying two blocked shots and one steal against the Hokies...totaled five points and six rebounds as Florida State lost to Virginia Tech, 71-59, in Blacksburg (Jan. 8)...two points in the first half and four in the second as Florida State fought its way back into the game from the start...the Seminoles led by as many as four in the first half but trailed by as many as 12 in the second half in dropping their first ACC game of the season...scored six points to go along with three rebounds and two blocked shots as the third seeded Seminoles faced the sixth seeded Hokies in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C. (March 11)...the Seminoles seemingly won the game at the buzzer on a 3-point shot by Derwin Kitchen that seemingly gave Florida State a 54-52 win...after a lengthy review by the referees, the shot was ruled to have come after the buzzer as the game was handed to the Hokies, 52-51... two points in the first half helped the Seminoles to a 27-19 advantage at the intermission...his four second half points were not enough as Virginia Tech outscored the Seminoles 33-24 over the course of the final 20 minutes of the game to take the win and advance to the semifinals of the tournament where they lost to Duke...(vs. Wake Forest): Scored five points and pulled down four rebounds in 16 minutes of play in one game against Wake Forest...also added a career high tying two assists and one steal to going along with three free throws made as the Seminoles won in Winston Salem...did not play because of a knee injury suffered in practice prior to the Seminoles' 85-61 win over the Deacons in Tallahassee (Feb. 1)...was preparing to undergo surgery three days later and missed one of his seven games because of injuries during the season...made his return after only 15 days from surgery to recover with five points and four rebounds in Florida State's 84-66 win over Wake Forest in Winston-Salem (Feb. 19)...two points in the first half helped the Seminoles' offense get on track and helped pull out the road win for the Seminoles...a dunk at the 14:12 mark of the first half helped pull Florida State to within two at 4-6...the Seminoles' offense stalled for the next 10 minutes but recovered to trail by only 31-33 at the half...three points on a free throw at the 13:32 mark and two more free throws at the 12:36 mark helped Florida State extend their lead to 39-48...his three points in the span of 56 seconds allowed Florida State some breathing room in running away with the 18 point win...Florida State opened up as much as a 20 point advantage in the second half...the win was significant on many fronts: it was a conference road win, it was Shannon's return from a speedy recovery from knee surgery and it was the first of six games the Seminoles would play without standout forward Chris Singleton who broke his foot on Feb. 12 against Virginia...(In Three Games In The NCAA Tournament): Averaged 1.3 points and 1.7 rebounds in three games during the NCAA Tournament as Florida State advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1993 and for only the fourth time in school history...the Seminoles defeated No. 20 ranked and seventh seeded Texas A&M in the second round and No. 5 ranked and second seeded Notre Dame in the third round before meeting Final Four participant VCU in the Sweet 16...the Seminoles' victories over the nationally ranked Aggies and the nationally ranked Fighting Irish marked the third and fourth victories of the season over nationally ranked teams...the Seminoles' first two games were played in the United Center in Chicago while its Sweet 16 game against VCU was played at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Tex...(vs. Texas A&M): Totaled two points and one rebound in five minutes of playing time in helping lead Florida State past No. 20 and second seeded Texas A&M, 57-50, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament (March 18)...also added one blocked shot in the Seminoles' first NCAA Tournament win since 1998...his field goal came at the 13:19 mark and helped give the Seminoles' a quick 7-0 lead which they expanded to as much as 12-3 (plus nine points)...his basket proved important as Texas A&M rallied to take as much as an eight points lead before the half was over...the Seminoles got themselves back into the game and trailed by only 23-26 at the half...also added an important first half block on a field goal attempt by the Aggies' B.J.
