H.S. Scouting Report

H.S. Athletic Background

Miterko was a captain and the leader, playing both ways, for a hard trying 4-5-1 Carlsbad Cavemen team. Miterko earned All-District 3-6A honors in 2018 as a first-team offensive tackle and anchored an offensive line that allowed its running back to earn all-district honors and total more than 1,000 rushing yards, also allowing its fullback to average 5.2 yards per carry. He helped Carlsbad earn the No. 21 spot in MaxPreps’ 2018 New Mexico high school football rankings.

Scouting Report: Almost unfair, Miterko is a down after down highlight tape because of his physical mismatch with every defensive lineman he saw in New Mexico. To top it off, he has had good coaching and shows very good technique for a high school lineman. He plays too high at times, but not as much as most high school linemen. He tries to stay low and often is still in a crouch position when he makes contact with defenders off the line of scrimmage. His technique is so good that on video it appears that he cocks his body and explodes at the point of attack when he begins the block. As a result, his targets are usually done at first contact but he stays locked on and drives or puts them in the turf. He does it time and time again. It will be fun to see him make the graduation this summer and into fall camp of playing against college defensive linemen. He is smart and very dedicated. He is going to be a leader from the time he joins the team. I wouldn’t call it a weakness, but he will get bigger and stronger and benefit from Rob Glass and his program.
