Power 4 Starter

Reminds Us Of

Jaylon Jones Ole Miss Rebels

Good-sized defensive back with a great frame for a corner that could also translate to other spots in the secondary. Owns broad-shouldered build of a safety with playing experience and demeanor of a cornerback. Corner, nickel, and safety all in play in college depending on personnel packaging. Competitive-natured. Relishes facing top competition. Faces strong competition in games, as well as practices. Ample experience in man press coverage with size to jam receivers initially. Has flashed instinctive traits when rolling into zone. Above average ball skills, and will try to make a play after getting the ball. Capable hitter, but needs to become a more consistent tackler. Often sacrifices tackling technique to go for the big hit. Sometimes gets too handsy in press coverage. Can improve quick-twitch athleticism. Play speed is adequate, but testing numbers have underwhelmed (4.71 40, 4.40 shuttle as a junior). Possesses terrific physical tools that fit the profile of a position- and coverage-versatile defensive back who should become a reliable Power Five starter who could eventually contend for all-conference honors.
