Layden Blocker

Layden Blocker is an athletic guard who is dynamic in the open floor. He has tremendous end-to-end speed with the basketball and is capable of creating tempo like few others in the open court. He has the ability to accelerate mid-drive, attack both sides (he has a very good left hand), and is also an impressive vertical athlete at the rim. While he's most effective in transition, his ability to impact a half-court game has improved significant within the last year. While he's still developing some of the nuances of the point guard position, he has learned how to operate within offensive structure and is reliable with the ball in his hands to the tune of a 3.8:1 assist-to-turnover ratio in NIBC play as a junior. He's not a natural outside shooter, but is selective picking his spots, and able to knock down enough open rhythm shots to keep defenders honest. He can make short pull-ups or little runners in and around the paint, but does not yet shoot off the dribble with much range. Blocker is a good rebounding guard and also a definite playmaker on the defensive end of the floor.
