Kody Walterscheid

Walterscheid played both ways as a senior and on defense we found seven tackles with five unassisted stops. He had two tackles for loss and they were both quarterback sacks. He was responsible for a safety on one of those. He also played offensive tackle. Walterscheid has started for both a football state champion and a basketball state champion while at Muenster. The Hornets won the Class 21 Division II State Championship in AT&T Stadium in Arlington over Tenaha, 27-20, in 2017. Then in basketball they won a state title in 2016 and finished as semifinalists in 2017. Muenster finished 12-2 this past season. Last season Walterscheid earned All-State honors on both sides of the ball. He was first-team on offensive line for the Texas Sportswriters Association Class 2A All-State team and he was honorable mention on the defensive side for the Associated Press Sports Editors Class 2A All-State team. He was first team All-District 8-2AII on both offensive and defensive line. He is the younger brother of Oklahoma State senior defensive end and Barry Sanders Award winner Cole Walterscheid. What is interesting is that Cole was about 6-5, 195 pounds when he came to Oklahoma State and Kody is significantly larger. As mentioned above, Walterscheid has been a three-year starter in both football and basketball.

Scouting Report: There was no video (full game or highlight) available from Muenster but based on what I saw of Walterscheid at camp, he is athletic for his size and being a three-sport athlete he has good agility. His father was a good athlete and with his brother having played at Oklahoma State some good knowledge has already been passed down. I would expect for him to progress, both physically and mentally, faster than Cole. As already mentioned, he comes in a lot bigger than his older brother did as a freshman.
