Carvalho is a three-phase athlete who makes plays on both sides of the ball as well as special teams. As a junior, he scored touchdowns five different ways- rushing, receiving, kick return, punt return and interception. He could play receiver, corner, nickel or safety at the college level and is easily among the most versatile players in the region. In the secondary, he’s a true ball-hawk with excellent ball skills. He shows plenty of range at safety, covers a lot of ground and can get off the hash and made a big hit in run support. He’s an excellent receiver as well with natural hands, can go up and get it and runs well after the catch. He’s one of those rare players that we could see getting reps on both sides of the ball in college and he should get plenty of action in the return game as well.
H.S. Athletic Background
Carvalho comes from a strong football family as his father Stewart played at Utah, his uncle Sterling is the head coach at national power Kahuku and his older brother Kainoa signed with Utah in 2023 and will enroll this fall after he returns from his LDS mission.
