H.S. Scouting Report

Evaluated 02/13/2023

Andrew Ivins
Andrew Ivins Director of Scouting

A verified burner. Not only took 1st at West Virginia’s AAA state track meet in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes as a sophomore, but also won the 60-meter dash at the Florida Indoor Championships after transferring into IMG Academy for senior season. Doesn’t have much meat on the bone (listed at 5-foot-9, 160 pounds), but is a dynamic playmaker in the slot that causes plenty of issues for opposing defenses with his footspeed. Can not only run past corners and safeties on deep vertical routes, but also scoot away from would-be tacklers in the open field as he has the ability to turn quick screens and short slants into big gains with his wiggle, vision and burst. Tracks the football well for a youngster, but a smaller catch radius isn’t exactly ideal. Either is the lack of real core strength. Will eventually need to add some body armor to a rather slender frame if he wants to be more than just a gadget player on Saturdays, but the ability to create separation in the deeper third one play and then slip out of tackles the next is worth a roster spot. Should be viewed as a potential offensive weapon at the Power Five level that can add value as a return man. Speed times (reportedly ran a 4.25 in the 40-yard dash at Ohio State) likely to get him looks from NFL scouts one day.

H.S. Athletic Background

Originally from West Virginia. Also a decorated track athlete. As a 10th grader, captured gold at the West Virginia Class AAA track meet in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes after placing 2nd as a 9th grader in the same two events at the same meet. Also took first in the 60-meter dash at the Florida Indoor Championships, posting a 6.70 in Winter of 2023. Owns personal bests of 10.45 in the 100 and 21.48 in the 200.
----
2022: As a junior, caught 67 passes for 1,173 yards and 14 TD for a Wheeling Park team that went 7-4 competing in West Virginia’s AAA classification. Also got plenty of snaps at corner and was credited with 8 tackles, 3 PBU and a pick six on that side of the ball per MaxPreps.
2021: Missed some time due to injury, but still appeared in 6 games for Wheeling Park. Averaged 96.3 receiving yards a game.
