Reminds Us Of

Jaquelin Roy Minnesota Vikings

An interior defensive lineman with a promising frame and some pass rushing upside given his above-average first-step quickness. At his best when he can just fire out of his stance and attack the A gap. Keeps his legs pumping once engaged with a blocker and won’t give up on a play as he’s always looking to cut off a run lane and swallow up a ball carrier. Longer reach (81-inch wingspan) tends to cause issues for opposing guards and tackles. Rather flexible for someone that’s pushing 6-foot-4, 300 pounds. Could, however, find a lower pad level as leverage is only going to make things easier when tasked with getting around college-sized lineman. Posted decent testing numbers as a junior (went 4.5 in the short shuttle), but still could get better at changing directions in pads as he isn’t always the most fluid individual. Has produced for three straight years at the varsity level in one of the Sunshine State’s higher classifications and entered his senior season with 28 career sacks to his name. Should be viewed as prospect that can be a multi-year starter for a Power 5 program. Could be molded into a three, four or five-technique depending on the defensive scheme.
