Jackson McAndrew

McAndrew is a pure shooter. He has a feathery touch and easy deep range well beyond the arc. He’s capable of heating up and making shots in bunches, and when that happens he can also make tough shots off his back foot. He knocked down over 45% of his attempts from three during the EYCL season and over 80% of his free-throws. He could get his feet set a bit quicker when pulling up off the dribble and tends to leave most of his misses short, but there’s no denying he’s an elite shooter at this stage. While his combination of size and shooting are his most obvious assets, they are not his only ones. He’s also mobile for his size, able to run the floor, has predictably soft hands, and some signs of being able to put the ball on the floor. He’s also an unselfish player and willing ball-mover who already understands how to play in offensive structure. He’ll not only pick-and-pop, but slip out of various screening actions in order to free himself. His top priority needs to be building up his body and becoming more comfortable with physicality in the lane. Offensively, he rarely seeks out the paint and when he does put it on the floor, he can get bumped off the line of his drive. Defensively, while his size and mobility give him some potential, he can get sealed inside too easily and usually rotates from the weakside to help on the ball with his length more so than his total body. Finally, he needs to ensure he’s a consistent rebounding presence, particularly on the defensive end.
