A five-star recruit and 2014 McDonald's All-American from Moss Point High School in Mississippi, Booker chose Kentucky over offers from Missouri, Michigan, Michigan State and others. Booker’s father, Melvin Booker, played at Missouri and was Big Eight Player of the Year and a second-team All-American in 1994. Booker earned Mississippi high school Gatorade Player of the Year honors as a junior and finished his three-year career at Moss Point as the schools all-time leading scorer (2,518 points). In his one season at Kentucky, Booker appeared off the bench in 38 games but was one of three Wildcat to average double digits in points per game. He led the team in made 3-pointers (58) and shot 41.1 percent from 3-point range on the season before declaring for the NBA draft.
