Scouting Report
Evaluated 02/01/2024
Natural football player with extensive two-way snaps at several positions. Right in the heart of the typical range of off-ball linebacker projections from a size perspective: just shy of 6-3 and around 215 pounds. Displays above average ball skills thanks to heavy offensive reps. Played quarterback, receiver, edge, and linebacker as a junior. Earned Pennsylvania Sports Writers 2A all-state honors at linebacker. Good functional athlete with open-field galloping gait and some build-up speed. Likely adds value at the next level as a situational edge rusher in specific packages. Not overly long but does possess plus length relative to height, which should aid any pass-rush assignments. Capable of turning a takeaway into points, as evidenced by two long defensive TDs in 2023. Can cover a healthy amount of territory in pursuit. Also not uncomfortable playing space in short zone. Solid tackler but arrives high at times. Plays upright. Appears to employ a measured play style and avoids over-aggression, but can show more urgency sometimes. Quite young for the 2025 class, a data point that should only help long-term trajectory. High-volume two-way snaps frequently show up in NFL Draft linebacker results, and Burnett checks that box with an exclamation mark. Owns the physical tools and on-field experience to become a multi-year high-major starter with a long-term ceiling beyond college.
