Reminds Us Of

Markquese Bell Dallas Cowboys

A lanky center fielder-type of safety prospect that calls the defensive back factory that is American Heritage home. Measured just over 6-foot-2, 170 pounds spring before junior season. High cut and pretty undeveloped from a physical standpoint, but should be able to add some mass –across the board– once working with a college strength coach and eating consistently at a training table. Has experience in a variety of different alignments, but seems to be at his best when he’s working over the top in Cover 1, Cover 2 or Cover 3 situations as he lacks the desired fluidity to be super effective as a man-to-man defender. Surprisingly physical for someone on the leaner side and will come up to make a stop at the line of scrimmage. However, must improve tackling technique at the next level and learn that oftentimes the lower man wins, especially when it's a much larger individual. Should thrive in a defensive scheme that wants to eliminate the deep ball. Lack of verified testing data isn’t ideal, but on-field production (nine interceptions in 32 varsity games) speaks for itself.

H.S. Athletic Background
