Comparison

Daelin Hayes Baltimore Ravens

A front-seven defender that looks like he could be molded into a variety of different things. Started prep career off as a hand-in-the-dirt defensive end up in New Jersey. By junior year was working as a stand-up edge rusher and jumbo slot defender down at IMG Academy before eventually getting looks as a 3-technique at the national powerhouse. Lacks length in the arms, but has more of a college-ready body at 6-foot-3, 250 pounds. Adequate get-off and ability to bend allows him to attack the corner. Pretty heavy-handed for someone his size and can maneuver his way around obstacles with a strong swipe or a quick swim move. A bit of a limited sample size when it comes to his ability to stop the run as an interior defensive lineman, but seems to know how to find leverage and anchor. Must, however, improve as an open-field tackler and get better in pursuit, especially if he’s going to be more of a linebacker than he is a pass rusher on Saturdays. Overall, should be viewed as a high-risk, possible high-reward type of prospect given the position ambiguity. Could absolutely turn into an impact player for the Power Five program of his choice as he has gotten very positive reviews from the folks in Bradenton when it comes to his work ethic and mindset, but will likely need to play for a defensive coordinator that understands what he brings to the table and isn’t trying to stuff a square peg into a round hole.
