Reminds Us Of

Jordan Akins UCF Knights

Has grown to where he is now 235 pounds entering his senior year. Used in a variety of ways at Anderson from split out to slot to lining up in the backfield at times. Can run routes from all those positions. Solid after the catch and has even been used on screens. Tracks and catches the ball over his shoulder well. Added weight helped him as a blocker his junior year and he did that from the slot and from the backfield. Can still add to his top end and keep getting more explosive but is a good all-around player who can line up just about anywhere in a formation and be effective.

H.S. Athletic Background

Varsity starter since his sophomore season. Caught 35 passes for 624 yards and five touchdowns as a junior and also rushed for two touchdowns. Made All-Conference. Also plays basketball at Anderson.

Caden Piening is a 6-4, 230-pound Tight End from Cincinnati, OH.

Sources Tell Us

“I think his ability to line up in a bunch of different spots and be ultra productive as an inside receiver, outside receiver, in the box and on the line of scrimmage [makes him special]. He’s going to be the fourth D1 tight end we’ve had in a row and I think it's really really special to see his growth and maturity with how he’s gone through the recruiting process and also to be the guy. He played as a sophomore both ways and has played in 29 games the last two years. It’s ultra exciting to see him go from young 15-year old to a leader of our program, and be a face of it as we head into this season.” - Anderson head coach Evan Dreyer
