Reminds Us Of

Demario Davis New Orleans Saints

Requisite height with good length and a big frame to add mass. Possesses the size to immediately give you snaps at the P5 level.

Athletic, physical, violent off-ball linebacker who occasionally steps to the line of scrimmage. Long-term positional home has been in question in the past, but functional athleticism and playmaking ability are not. Senior season displayed improved in-space competency as a big-bodied traditional off-ball 'backer who could likely stay there in the long term.

Thumper vs. the run with chase-down athleticism from the back side. Already established as a hammer, showed violent striking ability during impressive senior season.

Vast pursuit range. Capable of consistent sideline-to-sideline pursuit with proven blitzing ability. Tone-setter for an FBS-loaded Texas 5A D-I state championship defense as a sophomore and perennially highly-ranked program over final two high school seasons.

Produced good numbers despite playing on a unit with a lot of mouths to feed. Adequate in-space athleticism appeared to take the next step during senior campaign. Still, remains at his best playing downhill.

Owns valuable offensive reps as a short-yardage battering ram with the ball, but has also busted big-play runs on multiple occasions. Shows promising pass-rush instincts despite primary role being off-ball.

Will need to continue to hone coverage technique and in-space athleticism to live full-time off the ball vs. high-major offenses. Sheer size could present an obstacle in matching up with smaller, more modern backs on clear passing downs.

Regardless, one of the most dynamic defensive prospects in Texas and the country for the 2023 recruiting cycle. Not a 'tweener as much as a situation- and scheme-versatile chess piece who should be able to stay on the field in all scenarios. Projects as an eventual high-major impact player with long-term early-round NFL Draft potential.
